Green Australian Web Hosting
The Web Factory has committed to reducing its carbon footprint, by reviewing the energy usage of its hosting servers, office equipment and vehicles. The result for customers is the assurance that the purchase of hosting services from The Web Factory offers an environmentally responsible means of powering their websites, enabling them to play a positive part in combating climate change without any affect on the day-to-day operations of their business.
To promote the idea of offsetting business carbon emissions and to prompt others to similarly consider their carbon footprint, all customers of The Web Factory will be encouraged to use a new “GreenServers” logo on their websites.
Since inception The Web Factory has sought to minimise its impact upon the environment, striving to create a socially responsible business and to encourage and inspire others to do the same.
Our environmental initiatives include:
1. We estimate the emissions generated for the daily operation and maintenance of our hosting servers, and purchase carbon credits via Climate Friendly to cover the estimated emissions.
2. In our office, we ensure that an amount equivalent to 100% of the energy we use has been or will be generated by GreenPower generators using renewable energy sources and delivered to the national electricity grid. Jack Green Energy offers consumers a choice between conventional coal-generated energy and electricity generated from clean, renewable and non-polluting sources, including the sun, wind, and hydro. Renewable energy is created from sources that do not contribute to greenhouse gas emissions or pollute the environment. It does cost a little more to generate electricity from these clean sources, but responsible consumers and businesses can make the choice.
3. Our customer invoices are distributed electronically to reduce waste.
4. We recycle as much plastic, cardboard, printer cartridges and paper as possible. We use Recycled Reflex paper for our office needs.
5. To reduce automobile emissions, we have chosen to take part in the Greenfleet program, where trees are planted every year to help create a forest, and as they grow they will absorb the greenhouse gases that our motor vehicles produce. Science shows that the planting of trees will not only help to absorb our car’s greenhouse emissions, but will also help to tackle salinity, improve water quality and provide essential habitat for native species.
